It's Semi Permanent time again, and that means another of their books. The quality of content rises every year, and it's always a pleasure to be published. Available from almost everywhere.

I have started some experimental watercolour and ink studies which are amazingly fun to paint. I am finding using the medium a wonderful excercise in control, which I'm sure will translate into my paintings. You can see some of them in the 2010 section of my website.

Also the Mixed Business show in Sydney looked great, with some new work by familiar Australian and International artists. Some guys exploring new directions in their work which is great to see.

The latest issue of Fallen has come out, with some pictures and words about me. I do interview very poorly, and am unable to give much insight into my work, although the rest of the issue is well worth your money. There are some wonderful drawings by Mitchel Spider, who came to my attention a few months back at his picture journal here. Also flicking through a magazine and only finding two advertisements on the last pages was very refreshing. Look at Fallen Magazine here.

Last Minutes with Oden

Hello, if you check this site fairly regularly then you will have noticed a lack of updates. It's summer here now and often too hot to paint, so I have been surfing a lot, and I fixed up an old bike so I don't have to borrow my friends ones. It is very busy where I live over the holidays, so I have been hiding in Melbourne a little bit too.

I will start painting this week for my 2010 solo show, and have some group things in store for late 2010. Updates will appear shortly. In the mean time watch the cricket.

Brunswick St, Melbourne

Shot from the Orgy group show at Palmer Projects last week. Looks like there was some great work, and plenty of red dots around the room too which is great. Always something good going on there so keep an eye out for their upcoming exhibits.

Ricky Swallow has a show on at the NGV at the moment, you must see it. There was an insightful feature on him by Virginia Trioli on the ABC program Sunday Arts last week too, it's available to download on itunes. Wonderful!

A group show opening next week in Sydney at Palmer. Should be a good show with some artists that I really like.

I've been away from home for a little while, and it's good to be back. The show at Nine Lives was rad, and hanging out with those guys was fun as. The show went well, and already working out another one up there next year. Probably a duo show with Justin Lee Williams, we'll see. Also got some time on the coast up there too, not many waves around but got some body surfing in. And walking through the Noosa National Park is wonderful. Here's a couple of pics from the show. It was the first time I'd been to Brisbane, and man it's a cool place. I pretty much didn't leave the Valley area, but it seemed like that was where the good shit was happening. Also was lucky enough to see the Nicholas Harding exhibition at Philip Bacon Gallery, man ... so good!

Spent an arvo with Hannah Smith, Nicholas Chalmers and Sam Smith. Shared some beers in their studio while they got busy with some work. Is always good to see other artists working in their places. Down behind their studio is a really nice river with this massive mall complex over the other side. It looked so bad that it became good.

I spent one of the nights at this amazing music spot called Zoo. Saw a really cool band named I Heart Hiroshima, who actually played my home town the next night. Outside in the lane way was a ping pong tournament, as well as this cat named Beau who playing some amazing dancehall beats. He also made a really nice cup of coffee at some coffee spot down the street. The whole party was organized by Matt from The Outpost for Fred Perry's 100th birthday. Top work Matt, it was super fun. Oh, and I stole these pics from The Outpost blog, hopefully the photographer doesn't mind.


Oh, and lastly. The most amazing place for coffee and toast is somewhere in Brisbane. I have no pics of it, or any idea where it was. But Matt's girl Kobi works there, and it's in an old pharmacy, and if you are part of a bike riding crew who wear lycra you can't stop by there. And also no phones are allowed. If you find it order a tomato and ricotta cheese on toast.
